Land Rover Range Rover Sport First Edition

How it looks when you see on the street:  The Range Rover Sport sets the bar high for a svelte shape that makes Range Rovers stand out from the pack. Every angle hits just right when it comes to proportions of an ideal SUV – and here is one that competes with the top-of-the-line Range Rover with a rugged twist.

How it makes you feel when you get in: Land Rover is loading up on its tech feature offering for a more digitized interior experience. The UX is controlled by Pivi Pro, delivered in a 13.1-inch touchscreen and a 13.7-inch driver display. The air purification reduces odors, bacteria, and viruses adding a practical element to a luxe package. The space feels modern — less buttons, more dark-chome appointments, and a balanced mix of sporty and chic. The seats are deliciously comfortable and can be adjusted 22 ways.

How it drives: It has a few engine options that tweak performance. Land Rover will introduce its first Sport EV for the 2024 model year. The P440e is a plug-in hybrid that has a range of 48 miles – more than enough for the average commuter. We drove the First edition, which offers a brawny 4.4-liter V-8 engine that makes 523 horsepower, among the last of the V8s we will likely see hitting the market.

Space for people and things: The Sport has ample room for a party of five. The rear row folds down flat, offering competitive storage space for the midsize SUV segment.

How much does it cost: Our test vehicle was the First Edition which is priced at a cool $127,925 and was chalk loaded with the bells and whistles. It’s available in four trim packages that also include the P360SE, the P400 S Dynamic, and the P440 eAutobiography.

What you should compare it to: Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, and Volvo XC90.
