Mercedes-GLS AMG 63

It’s easy to mix up Mercedes-Benz models by name, if you’re not well versed in the ins and outs lineup. Here’s a quick primer on the GLS AMG 63. The G stands for all-things SUV, the S is for super size (I made that up) and the AMG 63 for all the extra everything that separates this model from your average GLS and drives the price tag well into the six figures. I fantasize about my brief time behind the wheels of the GLS AMG 63, zoomin’ along the winding Pacific Coast Highway back in February 2020, my last cross-country trip before the world went topsy turvy. It was a perfect day, California bright and I remember the sense of ease as I climbed up into the tall cabin of the GLS on my way from LAX. I fiddled with the seat coolers and plugged into one of 9-USB ports to power up. What I have grown to appreciate about the AMG lineup is how that power is delivered in such a graceful manner, a constant display of commitment to engineering detail. The GLS experience is best described as restorative.
