Toyota Crown

How it looks when you see on the street: Crown may conjure up Camry vibes, but then its larger form and bolder stance gives off a whole other vibe. The Crown — new in the 2023 model year — revives a vintage Toyota name that dates back to 1955 Japan. The Platinum edition that we drove has the option for distinct two-tone paint job and bold 21-inch wheels. It’s a refreshing and unique option from Toyota.

How it makes you feel when you get in: It’s a spacious sedan and the Limited model has snazzy appointments that come kind of close to luxe Lexus territory. It houses a 12.3 inch touchscreen. The Limited has a heated rear seat. The Platinum model offers a surrounding-view camera system and a self-parking function.

How it drives: A smooth ride and all models have an all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain divide among two hybrid models. The Limited model produces 236 horsepower and xx miles per gallon for a respectable rating for owners still preferring gasoline power over battery.

Space for people and things:  The cabin is roomy and Crown is a great alternative for customers that want to stray away from SUVs, but want to the max space. The only short change on space is a slightly smaller cargo container in the trunk.

What it compares to: Kia Stinger, Nissan Maxima, and the Volvo S90.

How much does it cost: The Crown starts at $40,000.
