Ford F-150 Tremor
How it looks on the street: When we drove the F150 Tremor through a rambling Western mountain town, we were greeted with respect in this version of truck country. The Tremor’s outward appearance is all grit on top of grit. It’s a familiar shape — the F150 remain America’s favorite and best-selling vehicle in its decades-long dominance. The Tremor is one of the many F150 variants sold by Ford that caters to the rough and tumble that also includes the FX4 and the Raptor.
How it makes you feel when you get in: Invincible. That’s the whole point of driving a pickup. The high seating, massive amounts of power, and generous cockpit are designed to make the driver feel in control. It’s equipped with all kinds of off-roading and towing supports and tech to support these efforts like a 360-degree multi-camera system for trail visibility.
How it drives: What makes the Tremor different as an off-road venturer is its higher suspension, ground clearance ad massive 33-inch tires. It comes in two different engine arrangement a 3.5 liter V6 or a V8 that makes 400 horsepower and 500 pound feet of torque. Despite all it brawn, its manageable to drive at a cruising speed and doesn’t feel like too much truck. What’s not fun is parking it in an underground parking garage, but hey that’s not where the Tremor belongs.
Space for people and things: Let’s talk about what it can support – a tow weight of10,900 pounds and can carry 1,885 pounds in the 5.5-foot bed.
What it compares to: Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss, Nissan Titan Pro-4x, Ram 1500 Rebel, Toyota Tundra TRD Pro
