Mercedes-Benz GLB

How it looks when you see on the street: An attractive small SUV that lacks the sexy swoops of the GLA, but still says “drive me!”

How it makes you feel when you get in: We like the way we feel in the GLB cabin. Its luxe and commands sophistication in form and comfort. We quibbled about the ease of UX use in our review team. Some of us have adapted to the MBUX and find it easy to operate, while others long for a more tactile experience.

How it drives: One of the fun ones to drive in the small SUV category due to its peppy power. It offers two engine options — the solid base engine and the vivacious AMG model. It comes with front-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive is an option.

Space for people and things: Front seats are spacious, but rear leaves a lot to be desired, a theme we see in the small SUV category. It’s a well suited ride for a very young family, or the driver whose hauling things and not people, or city folks willing to compromise on legroom.

Best Features: We love that GLB is affordable luxury, without compromise.

What should you compare it to: BMW X3 and Mercedes long list of avail small SUVs including GLA and GLC

How much does it cost: GLB 250 starts at $38,600, and the dolled up AMG GLB 35 starts at $49,950 — a winne when it comes to affordable small luxe pricing.
