Subaru Legacy
How it looks when you see on the street: A sedate family sedan that sails under the radar and makes a steady and sure presentation.
How it makes you feel when you get in: The Legacy’s interior is comfortable and welcoming environment. It lacks a snazzy infotainment presentation, the Starlink Multimedia System is presented on a 11.6-inch screen, and delivers on the modern basics like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. SiriusXM and wireless smartphone options are offered in most option packages. One option we favor is Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which is essentially a bundle of safety features such as automatic braking and lane-keeping assist.
How it drives: For a gas engine, the Legacy offers decent fuel economy earning up to 35 miles per gallon on the highway on its 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine, 182 horsepower option. Some will opt for the 260-horsepower turbocharged engine for a bit more verve and money, and a drop in fuel economy to 31 miles per gallon on the freeway.
Space for people and things: Roomy front and rear compartments and ample trunk space makes the Legacy bigger than ever and a solid reminder on how a sedan can be a do-everything ride.
What you should compare it to: Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, Honda Accord, and the Kia K5.
How much does it cost: The starting price is $24,895, and at the higher end is the Legacy Touring XT at $38,195.
