BMW X6
How it looks on the street: The BMW X6 is a standout SUV, not to be confused with its close, more conventional relative, the BMW X5. It hit first hit the streets in 2008 and this current design dates back about six years ago. On the outside, it’s a curvaceous coupe proportions makes it most notably different, and prompted other car brands to follow in proportionality.
How it looks on the inside: The screen experience spans across the dash and binds a 12.3 inch digital cluster that frames the infotainment experience and a 14.9-inch touchscreen. Gesture Control, remote engine start, a head-up display, and a Harman Kardon sound system are available on option packages. The dark screens are offset by modern, cozy seats, and light from the panoramic moonroof, which seems to shine in the couple format. A crystal gear shift and circular knobs are used for manual hand controls of the UX system.
How it drives: Three different engines wear the X6 badge, starting off with the X6 xDrive40i, a base inline-six cylinder model that produces 375 horsepower, a solid performer. The twin-turbo V8 makes an impressive 523 horsepower. There is also a super powered X6M Competiton that produces a whopper 617 horsepower. The Driving Assistance Professional Package has the most safety features, including a 360-degree camera and BMW’s Highway Assistant. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring.
Space for people and things: For a coupe it’s got respectable space, but it lacks the cargo space of the BMW X5.
What to compare it to: Mercedes-Benz GLE, Genesis GV80, and the Porsche Cayenne Coupe
How much does it cost: The base for the xDrive40 is $73,900. Our test vehicle has the M Sport Package which is $87,545 and includes the mild hybrid system, multi-contour seats, wireless charging, and sport exhaust and brakes.
