Cadillac LYRIQ
How it looks on the street: LYRIQ is a smooth operator that introduced a fresh take for the electrified small SUV set when it debuted in 2023. Its exterior stands out from the other EVS in this category as does its persona, a bit of wagon influenced design thinking shows up in its contoured proportions and wing-shaped design accents on exterior lighting, door handles, and roofline. When forward facing the eye is drawn to the familiar old school Cadillac crest. On the road, it feels like a lot of ride, which is makes in line with Cadillac cars of yesteryear for the vintage future set.
How it feels on the inside: The LYRIQ interior is a lavish lounge framed around a 33.0-inch digital dashboard. Google and its familiar typeface define and coordinate the native software experience. It’s familiar but also requires a fair amount of swiping. A built-in fan keep the charging pad cool. Thoughtful storage bins take advantage of this new platform’s possibilities.
How it drives: LYRIQ cruises for 314 electric miles according to the EPA, which is more than what most drivers will burn in a week, so we didn’t even fuss over charging on our weeklong loan, unless your carting kids or a 30+ mile commute. It’s character is serene, confident, and smooth. It lacks the take off thrill of some competitive brands. Its pillowy suspension takes rough patches of pavement with ease. SuperCruise, GM’s assisted driving program takes some of the burden off of driver’s taking over on designated sections of highway.
Space for people and things: The 28 feet of rear space feels generous. It’s easy to climb in and out. Folding seats add more storage possibilities for a total of 60 feet of storage, on par with industry standards for EV SUVs.
What to compare it to: Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, Genesis GV60, BMW IX.
How much does it cost: The base price is $58,595 and higher end trins start at $68, 000.
