Chevrolet Traverse

How it looks on the street: That old Chevy jingle crosses our minds after a week behind the wheel of the three-row Traverse, which is in the words of Bob Seger, “Like a rock, I was strong as I could be.” The Traverse is a straight forward get the job done squarely SUV. For it’s third generation introduced in 2024, it’s available in a host of trim packages including the LT, Z71, High Country and RS. We drove the Z71 model most recently.

How it feels on the inside: The Traverse interior is framed by a large screen. Google built-in, 11-inch driver display, remote vehicle start, and active noise cancellation are standard tech features. The inside uses a lot of plastics to offset some of that value.

How it drives: The Traverse earns 21 miles per gallon. It’s equipped with a 2.5-liter turbo charged engine, hill descent control. On the roads, it plugs along, steady and sure, nothing wild or aggressive here.

Space for people and things:  A good amount of room on the inside, including the third row for fullsized folks, which is the real story for Traversing around town.

What to compare it to: Kia Telluride, Toyota Land Cruiser, Hyundai Palisade.

How much does it cost: The base price for the Z71 is $46,400 and with the super cruise addition it tallies up to $54,050.
