Lexus RZ
How it looks when you see on the street: The RZ is the first all-electric car made by Lexus. introduced in 2023. It’s added a bit more choice and range options to its 2024 model. In the sea of sameness exterior design, the Lexus-like shape and form is a standout — slightly bigger than the NX and slightly smaller than the RX.
How it makes you feel when you get in: It’s comfortable if perhaps a bit podlike on the interior. Rain-sensing wipers and panoramic glass roof are some of the niceties that add character. The 14.3 infotainment screen and a tech packages tacks on a heads-up display. It bundles safety into the Lexus Safety System+for automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centering ,and lane tracing.
How it drives: Driving RZ is a whisper quiet and smooth, if not thrilling experience. Lexus offers two different driving experiences. The first is the Lexus 450e Premium and Luxury. At max, it produces 220 miles of range and only 196 miles on the more expensive trim, which is below the average for a vehicle at this luxe all-ev price point. Power is solid — it makes 308 horsepower and 320 pound-Feet of torque. Charge time is about 30 minutes when DC fast charging and driving styles range from in normal, eco, to sport mode. For the 2024 model year, Lexus adds a new trim-variant , the RZ 300e that delivers that extended 266 mile range and is front wheel drive.
Space for people and things: It’s elevated roofline gives the RZ excellent headroom for passengers and surprisingly roomy back seat for its short contours.
What to compare it to: Genesis GV60 and the Cadillac Lyric.
How much does it cost: The latest 2024 RZ 450e Luxury we tested was priced at $67,245 with the luxury package. The base price is about $60,000.
