Mini Cooper S Clubman

How it looks when you see on the street: Quirky, carefree Mini Cooper continues to tread along a distinctive path that dates back to Mini’s origins in the late 1950s and emergence over the mod era in Britain. The slightly larger physique of the Clubman was introduced in 1969. In 2007 it was brought back to the Mini brand, owned and operated by BMW. Clubman adds a wagon-like extension and space to the Mini, which we think adds to its curb appeal for drivers who don’t want to be like everyone else.

How it makes you feel when you get in: The Clubman has the modern Mini interior and distinct accents like the circular shape of the gauges. The head-up display, digital cluster, and wireless charging are a noticeable upgrades from the last generation. We drove around with kids on board, and felt we had just enough space for fitting in tight spots, and carrying our cargo on board in contrast to the Mini.

How it drives: Minis tend to be spirited rough riders, and the power of the Cooper S and the stiff suspension means that the ride for passenger can be abrasive, but never dull. Forward-collision warning and rear parking sensors are standard.

How much does it cost: Our Clubman started at $36,000 and was optioned up with “The Untold Edition” accoutrements up to $44,000.
