How it looks on the street: The sport-minded GLA cuts a great shape small SUV shape. Its got minor tweak for 2024 model, in its extended second generation form, including a dapper pinstriped grille, and a hatchback concave rear.
How it makes you feel when you get in: The model we tested had a 10.25-inch infotainment and was spruced up with red stitching, red seatbelts, and carbon-fiber interior trim. Controls rely on the "Hey Mercedes" voice system or through use of the touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability is now standard, as is emergency breaking, and lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control are optional.
How it drives: The GLA AMG adds a 48-volt mild hybrid upgrade. Te GLA35 that we drove makes 302 horsepower, and reaches from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5 seconds 23 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. All-wheel drive is standard. Over the years, this compact crossover has improved its riding characteristics.
Space for people and things: Passenger room is promising, but rear cargo space is limited.
What to compare it to: BMW X3 and Audi S5.
How much does it cost: This models starts at just over $56,000 and shoots up in price when optioned up.
