Aston Martin DBX
How it looks when you see on the street: The day the SUVs sizzled. That’s what it feels like to drive around in the DBX. A man jumped in front of the car out of sheer delight when he saw us coming.
How it makes you feel when you get in: Ever been to a remodeled British castle? (Not as crazy as it sounds, many withering castles have been renovated into small, fancy English hotels.) That’s what the DBX feels like to cozy inside for a decadent drive. Classic, inviting, offset by modern details.
How it drives: Like whipped butter. The DBX sails along the road, like a car, not an SUV. It’s underpinned by a wicked, powerful and heavy engine. All this power, supported by a gasoline engine, means that the DBX forsakes fuel consciousness for its premium SUV performance. We’re told an EV version is coming down the road.
Space for people and things: Plenty. The interior proportions are generous in both front and back. Cargo room is plentiful, too. The design factors in apres ski features, such as a ski boot holster.
Best Features: All of the creature comforts are well upholstered in hand made materials — its so deliciously comfortable it made us want to pull over and take a restful nap.
What makes it stand out: The lack of touchscreen is noticeable for a new super luxe model.
What should you compare it to: Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga – luxurious, bedazzled SUV made by iconic expensive auto makers.
How much it costs: A lot! It starts at $176,000.
